In-school Professional Learning

Could your History teachers benefit from free, in-person, in-school professional learning in 2025?

The HTAV team would be delighted to visit your school! Take up this opportunity that allows teachers to enjoy the benefits of learning together.

HTAV has curated a menu of 11 different topics tailored to support your current educational focus and goals.

Your team can choose from the four main umbrella topics for a broader focus, or select from the seven in-depth topics for a more specific area of interest.

Participants will walk away with a package of resources related to the chosen topic.

This project is free for schools in 2025 due to funding provided through the Department’s Strategic Partnerships Program.

If you’d like to hear more or book us for your school, get in touch with Tanya Gordon by Friday 8 November.

Choose from any of these options:

  • Plan together for a genuine whole-school history curriculum
  • Get ahead of the game by focusing on a ‘knowledge-rich curriculum’
  • Get everyone on the same page re teaching and assessing historical thinking skills
  • Develop a shared vocabulary for and approach to using historical sources
  • Explore the nuances of analysing historical perspectives and interpretations
  • Improve the standard and range of assessments used in history classrooms
  • Deep dive into History assessment rubrics
  • Help a new-ish team work together to build and share the historical knowledge they need as teachers
  • Explore strategies for respectful, rigorous teaching of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander topics across the year levels

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. The HTAV Office is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. These lands were never ceded. We pay our respect to their ancestors and Elders, past and present.

Please note: Members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities should be aware that the HTAV website may include images or names of people now deceased.
