Expression of Interest for 2026 National History Challenge State Judging Panels

16 Jul 26

Expressions of Interest are now open to join this year’s State Judging Panel for the National History Challenge.

The 2026 theme on VOICES is garnering a lot of attention and we are seeking volunteers to help judge what we know is going to be another strong wave of high-quality entries from across Victoria.

Being a part of the State Judging Panel provides a unique professional learning opportunity to contribute your expertise and collaborate with your peers. It’s a wonderful way to share your passion by engaging with the work of so many primary and secondary students who have challenged and immersed themselves in the study of History.

National History Challenge – State Judging Panel
Saturday 5 September 2026, 9.30am to approximately 1.30pm
HTAV Office, Suite 105, 134 Cambridge Street, Collingwood

Catering will be provided and certificates referencing AITSL standards will be issued.

You can view the judging sheet and general criteria for more details.

About the competition

The National History Challenge is an exciting contest that encourages students to use research and inquiry based learning to discover more about the past. Students are the historians. They can investigate their community, explore their own and their family’s past and explore ideas throughout history. The NHC encourages inquiry based learning, the use of primary and secondary sources and offers a variety of presentation styles that can cater to individual learning styles. It rewards students with generous cash prizes and travel opportunities.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work.
