The awards of the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria (HTAV) recognise excellence in History teaching and contributions to the profession and the Association. The highest level of achievement in these areas is recognised by the Colin Pearce Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Teaching and Learning of History and to the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria.

At the recent HTAV Annual Conference, HTAV President Elisa Litvin and Patron Emeritus Professor Peter McPhee AM, presented the HTAV Colin Pearce Award to:

Alexis Watson

It was a great pleasure to celebrate and acknowledge Alexis for her long-standing membership, support for History educators and work with HTAV. Alexis has shared here expertise and knowledge with History teachers for many years. Her generosity, goodwill and unwavering support have been invaluable to the community. Alexis’s own teaching practice and her commitment to resource sharing, mentoring and delivering professional learning combined to make her a worthy recipient of this award.

Alexis has also played a role in HTAV’s governance and operations as a director on the HTAV Board for numerous years. She was involved with the National History Challenge for thirteen years and six of those years were spent as one of the Victorian State Coordinators. Alexis’s dedication to supporting History teachers and helping them flourish is remarkable.

On behalf of all of the HTAV community we congratulate and thank Alexis for all her outstanding contributions!
