Free Tour of the Gold Museum for Year 7/8 Teachers

16 Feb 18

The Gold Museum in Ballarat is offering Years 7 and 8 Teachers free professional learning.

When: Thursday 1 March 2018
Where: The Gold Museum, Bradshaw Street, Ballarat

The Gold Museum houses a large array of Aboriginal artefacts collected by Dr. Sydney Pern in the nineteenth century. The collection not only reveals insights into Aboriginal cultures, lifestyles and art, but also tells a story of nineteenth century collecting, and raises ongoing ethical issues regarding ownership, care, and preservation of such artefacts. Teachers will go on a unique back-of-house tour to explore rarely seen items from this collection and meet our Collections Manager. This content is particularly useful for teachers of Year 7/8 History.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. The HTAV Office is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. These lands were never ceded. We pay our respect to their ancestors and Elders, past and present.

Please note: Indigenous Australians are advised that the HTAV website may include images or names of people now deceased.
