Are you studying at university to become a History teacher? Volunteering with HTAV is a fantastic way to get involved in the professional community, build your network and access high-quality professional learning, all while giving back.
HTAV welcomes pre-service teacher members to volunteer at our major professional learning conferences that attract hundreds of practising History teachers from across the state. Volunteers play an important role in helping these events run smoothly and are truly valued by HTAV and attendees alike.
Why Volunteer?
By volunteering at a HTAV conference, you will:
- receive free event registration
- have opportunities to attend workshops and sessions when not on duty
- enjoy complimentary morning tea and lunch
- contribute to the professional History teaching community
- build connections with experienced teachers, presenters and fellow pre-service teachers
- access free teaching resources and materials
- gain professional learning that can support your teaching placement and contribute to Victorian Institute of Teaching requirements.
Volunteer roles include:
- assisting with attendee registration
- providing directions to workshop rooms
- supporting presenters in their workshops
- helping with event logistics
- supporting prize draws and exhibitor interactions.
Working in schools?
If you’re currently working under Permission to Teach, we encourage you to volunteer to access valuable professional learning that you can take back to your school. Be sure to seek permission from your school and use the details provided to support your request.
