Teaching VCE History in 2019
This event is aimed at pre-service teachers, teachers unfamiliar with VCE History and possibly teaching history for the first time, or experienced teachers who feel they need more guidance with the Study Design. Participants will be advised on how best to prepare to teach Revolutions (Units 3 & 4), Australian History (3 & 4), Ancient History (1–4), Twentieth Century History (1 & 2), and Global Empires (1 & 2) in 2019.

Date: Friday 23 November 2018

Time: 1.00pm – 4.05pm (Registration: 12.30pm – 1.00pm)

Venue: Camberwell Girls Grammar School, 2 Torrington Street, Canterbury

1.05pm – 1.45pm Session 1: Frequently Asked Questions
Gerry Martin, Curriculum Manager (History and Civics), Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA)

In this session Gerry will answer a series of Frequently Asked Questions about VCE History, including key knowledge, key skills, school-assessed coursework, exam preparation and requirements, available resources.
1.45pm – 2.00pm Afternoon tea (light refreshments)
2.00pm – 3.00pm

Session 2: VCE History Units 3 and 4
Each session includes:

  • An overview of the course: brief content and skills summary
  • Key resources for the classroom
  • Advice on assessment tasks
  • Ways of developing and assessing historical thinking skills.

Choose from one of the following sessions:

A VCE Units 3 and 4: Revolutions
