Benefits of Membership
With History high on the political agenda and with bipartisan support for a national History curriculum, there has never been a better time to join the HTAV. Nor have there ever been so many benefits. As a professional teaching association, the HTAV can represent your interests and keep you informed with developments as they happen.
The HTAV can also provide the assistance you need – no matter what your level of experience or the perspective of history you are looking for. Here are some of the ways we can help you do your job more effectively and accurately:
- providing curriculum development and resource advice
- supporting networks of teachers experienced in all areas of history
- a professional development program
- a lecture series for VCE and IB students
- relevant and affordable teaching and learning resources
- support of History competitions such as the National History Challenge and the Simpson Prize
HTAV membership is well worth the cost. For individuals – attend only one conference and the savings you will make as an individual member will have paid for your members. Schools – send as many staff as you like to each HTAV event – and save on each registration!
As well as discounted professional development, there are many other benefits of membership. These include our journal Agora, and newsletter the Bulletin, access to the new HTAV members-only website area, email updates, discounts on publications sold at conferences, free member events and welcome packs for individual members.
The HTAV invites all History/Humanities teachers, Primary and Secondary schools, educational institutions, publishers and cultural organisations to join the HTAV for 2009 and enjoy the many benefits of membership.
